AVP (Anti-Viral Tool Kit Pro)

AVP is the current World No. 1, having won the last two Virus Bulletin comparisons. It will detect all known viruses and provides substantial protection against new and unknown viruses. This version is fully operational and expires 31 December 2000.

AVP for Windows 95/98 and NT is now accompanied by a new product: the AVP Inspector. This is a program that checks files for changes; it can be used as an additional anti-virus tool but also for general file control -- it will tell you exactly what changes take place as you install an application. It's particularly important that it can read all disk formats -- including compressed disks -- without using DOS and BIOS commands and therefore can't be intercepted by stealth viruses. This is the basis of a simple but devious method for detecting both known and unknown stealth viruses: it scans once with standard methods and again with the special Inspector method; any difference in file size reveals not only that a stealth virus is active but also in what file(s) it's hiding. AVP Inspector is linked to AVP, causing any new files to be scanned automatically. The information stored by AVP Inspector strongly improves the chances of cleaning out a virus infection without damage.
